The 2x48 has sealed bearings, which means metal dust won't kill it as quickly. I see Doug's point, because if you stick with this you WILL get a stronger grinder (grinders are for metal, sanders are for wood. This is an important distinction to look for in any product description!) and the money spent on this may be seen as wasted.

Unlike the EERF this will be a horizontal and vertical grinder. It's still being tweaked and I am waiting on some parts to come in. As soon as I get the base done it will be ready for paint. The CAD files will be free to download of course. And anyone who makes alterations or new features can have their files posted for others to use.

Taming of the skew, revisited. So, the other day I took a shot at tuning my D.Malloch skewed rebate plane (or rabbet, or whatever, I prefer rebate), here. My conclusion was that the skew of the iron was off and it needed a good regrind. However, at the moment, I don't have a grinder hooked up here at my house.
One thing I absolutely hated about my eerf grinder was the tracking mechanism and the floppy arm. I like that the sayber had a double shear mount for the arm pivot. On the eerf if I tightened the bolt to get rid of the floppy arm, it wouldn't pivot anymore. On this build I turned a couple pieces of delrin to go on each side of the arm.

Started with the basic EERF grinder design and then made some of the bolt holes tapped and threaded instead of bolt together along with a 50 lbs air shock for belt tension...
