With any mill the cost of tooling can get out of hand. So if you want a rotary table and gear cutters and vises and 123 blocks and parallels and DRO's, etc you must add the cost to determine if it is affordable. Also collets and end mills are needed. The4991 comes with R8 arbor and drill chuck. You need R8 coletts or mill holders to do milling.

I used this set of 3, to add digital readout to my older Harbor Freight mini-mill. The install was easy and only needed the parts supplied in the kit minus one. I needed to make an extention for the up & down or the "X" travel direction. I used 1" x 1/8" aluminum flat bar for that.
Added DRO to the Y-axis of a Harbor Freight mini mill. Testing it out. Works pretty good considering the backlash in the system.
